Upton-Hager, Millie

Mildred “Millie” (Upton) Hager, age 81, of Decorah, IA, passed away at her home on Monday, March 25, 2024. There are no formal services planned for Millie at this time. Her burial will be at Eastern Star Cemetery in Aline, Oklahoma, at a later date. Born to Thomas and Mildred (Francis) Upton on July 25, 1942, in Los Angeles, CA, Millie was the oldest of four children. Raised in Enid, OK, Millie graduated from Enid High School in June of 1960. She married Darrel Hager on June 5, 1960, and raised a family of five children while primarily living in Kansas. Millie and Darrel returned to Enid in 1995 and moved to Decorah in 2019. Millie balanced motherhood, while pursuing a nursing career. She returned to college and received a Bachelor’s Degree of Nursing from Pittsburg State University in 1990. Millie had a strong faith and was an active member of First Baptist Church of Enid. She attended Stone Ridge Community Church while in Decorah. She enjoyed sewing, baking, scrapbooking and was an avid reader. Millie is survived by her husband, Darrel Hager; four of her children, Sherri Hager (Shawn Reed) of Aurora, CO; Jeff Hager of Oro Valley, AZ; Mark (Darla) Hager, of Enid, OK; and Stacey (Chris) Irwin of Decorah; 11 grandchildren; and three great grandsons. She is also survived by her brother Samuel (Valerie) Upton of Shawnee, OK; her sister Loretta (Jim) Spleth of Enid, OK; her sister Rebekah (Jim) Thompson, of Marietta, GA; brothers-in-law, Norman Hager and Doyce (Rachel) Hager and sister-in-law, Connie Hager; and numerous nieces and nephews. Millie was preceded in death by her oldest son, John Hager; her father, Thomas Upton; her mother, Mildred Dixon; stepfather, Wayne Robinson; stepfather Dwight Dixon; and her in-laws, Olin and Edna Hager.
