Jean Schwab, 80 year old Woodward resident, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2022 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
Thelma Jean (Linderer) Schwab was born on February 15, 1942 in Enid, Oklahoma to Ado Peter and Dortha May (Robinson) Linderer. She was the youngest of 16 children. By the age of 16, Jean had lost both of her parents. Within the next year, Jean was United in marriage to Larry Hort on April 17, 1959 in Pond Creek, Oklahoma. They made their home in Enid were they were blessed with three children: Mitchell, Rusty, and Casey.
In 1977, Jean met the love of her life John Schwab. They were United in marriage on February 10, 1979 in Woodward, Oklahoma where they made their home. Throughout the years, Jean held many jobs that included working for Trego’s Western Wear and Fruit of the Loom Factory, until she found her calling and started Schwab Tax Service and joined Caldwell Banker as a realtor. More than anything, Jean loved her family. She enjoyed having a house full for meals that always ended with everyone in her bed snuggling to watch OU football. Jean also loved going to the casino with her buddy Gayle Beauchamp and always looked forward to Sunday night dinners with Rob and Woody.
She is survived by her children: Mitchell Hort and wife Scarlett, Russell (Rusty) Hort, Cassandra (Casey) Forrest and husband Lonnie; special bonus daughter, Ana Carolina Castro de Medeiros and wife Trini Logan; six grandchildren: Ashley Hort, Michelle Hort, Melissa Clark and husband Matt, Alyson Carey and husband Kyle, Kole Forrest and wife Bekie, Baylee Forrest; six great-grandchildren: Rileigh, Braylon, Madison, Aubrey, Weston, and Paisley; very special sister-in-law and friend Mary Lou Mulberry and husband Kenneth; sisters-in-law, Joyce Linderer, Bernita Schwab, Louise Schwab, and her constant companion Boo. Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John , in-laws, and her fifteen brothers and sisters.
